More Time at the Hospital

I love the first few hours after you have a baby -- you are still pretty numb (in all senses of the word) -- your lady bits are numb-- thankfully!!!-- and your senses are numb-- you are trying to process the miracle that just happened--
You are holding the freshest- newest- miracle !!!

They are alert- and wondering what the hell just happened to them!!

The world is all right for that hour or soo--

The hustle and busle of the hospital calms down- the lights are dim-- and the glow and love that is felt between me and Chet is soo indescribable! --  The way your husband looks at you when you have just given him the best gift ever - is precious-- only to be overshadowed- by the way he looks at his new baby -- !!!

The way he hovers over the nurses-- waiting to snatch that baby up and bring her to me!!!

Its amazing- Chet is an amazing dad-- and he never dissapoints in the hospital!!

With Porter I was terrified!-- Paige I was calmer- but still -- a little hesitant!!

Chet just jumps right in there!!

Within 2 hours of being born- Paige had her first huge huge poo-- Chet of course was going to take care of it-- he opened the diaper - and she continued to poo and poo and pooa nd poo that sticky black tar of a mess poo that newborns have!!

and every time he tried to wipe- she pooed more-- I was laughing so hard I'm sure the nurses thought I was crazy that were walking by -- I seriously laughed until I almost peed (I might have who knows) I was still pretty numb!!!

IN that first poo- we ruined the bed she was in -- she needed all new clothes- and a new bed!!

We just wrapped her up with me in my bed an left a huge pile of bedding on teh floor!!

My dear friend (she was like a second mom to me growing up) and I love her and ask for her when I'm in labor and delivery - she came in to see me-- she takes good care of me!!   She also got Paige a brand new clean bed!!  (thank you!!)

The hospital was busy - and they were out of regular rooms- so we stayed in our delivery room for a while-- Chet fell asleep -- and when they came to take me to a new room (on another floor!) they left him sleeping!!
Hehehe!

I'm sure he was surprised when he woke up to his baby and wife gone!

They took me to 2nd floor-which was great- hard for people to find me- and quiet!!

I was exhausted- and finally got a little bit of sleep!!  (this was around noon!)

Around 3 -- I was moved again- back onto the womens center floor-  (never drove around so much in a hospital before!!)

Porter finally got to come and see his new sister--  when he walked in -- I was holding her--

We asked him -- if that was his baby?

He said No

We asked him  "whose baby is it"

He just shrugged his shoulders and went on discovering the room and the snacks!!

He ignored her--

when he went back home with my parents-- it turns out the saving grace for Paige was that she was soft- and had soft blankets- and Porter did ask to come back up the next day to see Paige- cuz she's soft!!  (he loves soft things!!)

We had lots of visitors- and Paige was a doll baby - didn't hardly ever fuss!! -- I snuggled her in with me at night- so I knew she was safe!! -- Me and Chet finally switched spots- I hated sleeping in hospital beds- and he was uncomfortable any where he could be!

The nurse about freaked out when she came to check me- and he was in the bed- and I was sleeping on the couch behind the bed- hehehe! (it was lower to the ground and easier to get on and off of-- without stretching my stitches!!!)

We had to stay until Monday morning- because I was positive for the STrep B  so we had to stay the full 48 hours- I wanted to go home Sunday -- (which sounds soon when you figure I had her on Saturday ) but it was 2:26 a.m on Saturday -- which is really like Friday night!!!--
sunday night-- the nurse came in to take my vitals- I was up walking around and feeling great- she took my blood pressure and about freaked out--

it was a very very high-- 198/105 -- uhm- not an ideal blood pressure--

She took it again - and it was only climbing--

She came back - after I had laid down for a while- and it was still super duper high!
I think it was 205/105 by then-- (and stayed high for the next 4 weeks!!!)

I started to cry -- and cry and cry -- Porter had a cold - which made me scared to take Paige home-- I felt bad about not wanting Porter around-- when I knew all he wanted was me to snuggle him!!

I didn'ti know why my blood pressure was soo freaking high (apparently some people go toxic after delivery-- which is odd - since the treatment for toxemia is delivery?) -- but I'm speciallike that!--

I cried and cried--

Monday morning we were ready to leave- and getting discharged  takes decades to get released from the hospital- Everyone has to come in and make you sign forms saying they gave you the "scare the shit out of a new hormonal mother" speech!! I think there were 4 people that came and gave me the scary speech- and I was bawling-- bawling sobbing!! -- it was bad-- I just wanted to go home and be home and not be bugged!!

Porter was uninterestedin Paige-- Had his Baby that my mom had gotten him-and was watching TV!

Touching her softly!! hehehe!
Gramma Great came to see the new tiny!!!  (what a good pic of Gramma smiling and eyes open!)

I had Chet bring int he car seat- and insert the base - which turned into a minor fiasco-- apparently he couldn't find the release for the seat- and brought the whole damn thing - seat -b ase- anda ll into my room damn near throwing it through the wall- we finally figured the base out- and were on our way out the door!! I walked out to the car (as I'd had plenty of rides from nurses during my hospital stay!!)-- and into our car and home-- home to a new adventure!!!
Her going home outfit!!! It was huge on her!!!

i love all these baby stories. so many good details and pics. i love the ones of grams holding the new tiny. hospitals shouldn't give scary speeches before you leave -- you're already scared enough as it is!
