Porter and the Dentist

A child's Firsts are always exciting and scary all rolled into one big stomach lump!!!  For me I anticipate, and plan and grind away in my head relentlessly for days and days and days- trying to go through every possible scenario-- what if he does . . . -- or what if he does . .. -- I can never ever prepare myself enough-- I try to prepare him for new things- by practicing at home-- like when we went to get his hair cut for the first time- we'd practiced for months at home- and what happened- he did amazing!!!

So the dreaded first dentist appointment- I mean no one likes the dentist right? (well I do- but its more the laughing gas I like not what actually goes on there!)

So I had been prepring Porter for weeks- talking up the dentist- the chair, the tv on the ceiling the balloon at the end!! All the good parts!!!

The day of Chet even practiced brushing his teeth - and then using a fork to inspect and count each one (genius I thought!)

So I arrived just at the dentist office- just after chet and Porter- Porter already had the toys all pulled out and had attached himself to Nala and Simba toys.  He was having a great time!

The Hygenist came out and talked to him about tooth brushes- and she was amazing!!

He went right in - got up in the chair- found some Elmo - and was in the zone--

I was worried he wouldn't open up his mouth -- but he did great!!!  didn't bite- didn't cry-- didn't freak out!!!

Just did waht they said- and kept his eyes intently on Elmo -- and the Syd the Science Kid!!! (gotta love cable!)

I can't believe how big he looks in their huge dentist chair-- and no "real cavities" a few maybe starting ones- naughty naughty- gotta get rid of the sippy cup at night- that is not helping-- but all in all- great first appointment.   Hooray for that!!

No time for smiles-- Elmo is on!!!!
He loved the headphones-- see me sporting Nala and Simba - they had to come along too!!!

your title sounds like a kid's book :) looking at his teeth with a fork was a very good idea. the metal on the teeth is the weirdest feeling until you get used to it.
