Chet had baits around Kelley Canyon this year!!
Chet's brother has contributed all the bait-- and it has worked out wonderfully -- turns out bears really like Cheetos, Doritos, Funyons-- and other wonderfully stale chips!!
Last night was the first night that it was kind of nice, no snow, and the wind was minimal -- so me and Porter decided to go with Chet to see where the baits were at and help him fill them!!
Filler Up Baby!!! Those Bears need some Chips!
The one bait has had a Mamma Bear and 2 baby bears on it-- Chet about got eaten one morning going to fill the bait.
He came walking up the trail--and into the bushes -you can't see the bait until you are about 20 yards from it--
He came out of the bushes and Mamma and Baby were just finishing up breakfast--
Mamma stood up and Woofed an aggressive Woof--
Chet dropped the bait and started yelling at the bear-- hoping she'd run away-- but you know Mamma Bears-- they don't like any one messing with their babies!!
Chet yelled at her-- I'm just here to feed your babies-- go away -- i don't want to shoot you-- I think there might have been some swearing involved--??
YOu know those unmentionable words that come out -- when you are about to be eaten by a bear-- and you are about ready to pee or crap your pants!
Ya those words I'm sure were there- but we'll edit this post for now!!
The Mama then stepped down-- and took a few steps towards Chet--
Cutting the distance between her and him in half--
More Swear words-- the gun is pointed at her-- shaking-- sweating-- other bodily functions are starting to be on the verge of letting lose!
Then she gathered up her kiddos and took off-- Whew!!
Chet filled the bait and got the hell out of there--
Good thing !
Me and Porter at the overlook- just by the bait--i thought it was super pretty!
The detour -- cost us though-- we got a little lost in the woods-- and ended up coming out at a different spot than where we thought we should and had to walk a little while back to the truck-- Porter was coming unglued- he was done hiking!! I totally agreed!
I need to get back in shape-- packing him and my fat butt up the hill about killed me!!
Alright Bears-- dinner time-- come and get it!!
Fresh Cheetos for everyone!!!
