We've all heard of sour grapes-- Well i don't have sour grapes-- I have sour apples!! My Gramma Purcell-- saw all the wonderful pie filling I made and decided she needed some too!! Alright Grams!! But Grams was recently (well like a year or so ago) diagnosed with diabetes and so she is very careful what she eats!! (I'm not a big supporter of watch what you eat!) So she has the idea to make apple pie in a jar without the sugar-- now mind you the recipe calls for 4 cups of sugar-- its mostly sugar and apples!!! Ok -- So last night -- I headed over to do an experiement with Grams-- her idea was no sugar when we can-- but when she opens it to make pie-- she'll sweeten it with Splenda-- ok whatever you want! So we started making it-- I was making the syrup that goes over the apples and it smelled divine! Yummy warm, and cinnamony!! Well pouring it into the jars-- I got some on my finger-- so I instinctively licked it off-- Oh my gosh -- my head about exploded-- It was like eating glue!! Brown cinnamon scented glue!! It was awful!! Yucko Grams!!
She laughed and tried it too!! She thought just what I did-- yup Brown Glue!! So we'll see if her experiment turns out good or not!! I might not be having apple pie at Grams house for a long time!! But if it does turn out-- its a good diabetic desert recipe!! I'll let you know! Way to go out on a limb and try something new Grams!!!
