DANGER ZONE . . .

Me and Chet (well mostly Chet) decided we did not have enough hobbies-- so he has now taken up archery hunting . . . basically throwing sharp sticks -- So this last weekend we went to Montpelier to hunt the elusive Elk!! Sounds fun huh!! Well it was Chet's birthday so I was willing to do anything he wanted (what a good wife I am !) We left Thursday night and arrived in hunting camp around 9:30 p.m. The cook Wendy (she is the funniest lady ever) had made a cake-- so we put a candle by it and sang happy birthday to Chet (he was soo embarassed - I loved it!) Bright and early Friday morning me and Chet went out to find us an Elk! We sat in the pickup and glassed the mountain - way to dark for me see - - so I got a little more sleep. When I woke up out my window about 150 yards up the mountain was a little deer - - a tiny little buck deer - - I named him Fileep. He wasn't scared of us at all and later we were able to get very close to Fileep! Stupid little deer! We finally saw some elk, and so we started our death march up the mountain - - not to far up the mountain -- Chet noticed 2 more elk -- it was 2 bull elk fighting-- so we watched that for a while-- and it was very very cool-- now Chet was doing a death march with a purpose and I was just trying to keep up - - I tell ya, a desk job does not get you ready for this stuff!! - - By the time we got up to where the elk had been fighting it was about 3 hours later-- and they were long gone! Shoot - - so we wandered around in the mountains and trees, calling and hoping to run into an elk!! We actually did - - we had set up to call and I had the wonderful job of taking a big stick and wacking the tree and rubbing the stick on the tree when Chet would call-- I guess its to sound like a realy pissed off elk? I don't know but it was fun! A small elk was stupid enough to come in - and had it held still about 1/2 second longer-- the work would have really began! But it decided we didn't look much like elk and took off into the trees.
The week before Chet had been hunting and had told me about the evil chipmunks-- yes they're so tiny and mean I'm sure -- he said they were throwing pine cones at them. Ok -- ya right!

Well these tiny chipmunks would totally bust you every time you entered into their territory, they'd chitter and chew you out !! This one was just chittering away -- and going nutz in the tree- then no kidding - - it started to throw pine cones-- I've never seen anything like it ever!! What nasty little things-- don't they know I could stomp them! They don't throw the nice fluffy pine cones either-- its the hard, not opened up pine cones!! Silly little chipmunks!! I guess you have to wear a camo hard hat to go hunting now!!

Well if that wasn't dangerous enough - - Saturday evening we started out for our evening hunt - - Chet is going to kill me for posting this - but its hilarious! We stopped below the mountain we were going to hunt - - Chet went for a little nature walk (if you catch my drift!) He came back a few minutes later -- pants half up and in pain - - what happend - - A BEE BIT ME!! OK where ? OOh -- not there -- yup-- right on his weener! EEK -- during his nature walk -- a bee had bit him!! We dug through the pickup trying to find something to put on him -- I couldn't find anything but a bandaid-- well it helps little kids? So I wrapped a bandaid around him. Then I made some mud for it-- we put a little patch of mud on it-- and put the bandaid back on-- I was laughing so hard and trying to hide it I about peed my pants-- cuz he was in soo much pain!! I do feel bad for him, but seriously how freaking hilarious is that!! Hunting is dangerous!!
