I have lived here my whole life-- and guess what- it wasn't until this year -- that I picked Huckleberries- - wait wait- it gets worse-- it wasn't until this year that I even knew what a huckleberry was -- (I thought it was like a blackberry!)-- and even better- I spend days and days in the hills- the same hills that are soo packed with Hucklberries- your pants turn purple whenyou walk up the hill-- and I never knew what they were-- I thought they were - "Death Berries" - and Chet didn't help that out- I'd ask- and he say yup- death berries- but go ahead and try one-- ya right!! - If it comes to me and dying if I do something- I probably won't-- just a good example- when I was little little little- the TV we had - had a rainbow circle (kind of like the peacock symbol) that was near the on off knob-- Brent- my mean older brother- told me -- if I touch that - I'll die-- no explanation-just I'll die- I was sure it would shock me or something- or had poison in it-- I never did touch it- matter of fact- later on- we moved into town- I was much older and wiser- Jodi - had that TV - in her room- I still wouldn't touch the rainbow- yes I was sure it would kill me-- GEEZ!!
So back to Huckleberries- my dear dear friend- called to see if I wanted to go- sure I said- I've never been so show me how its done!! We took a girls evening- with no kids and sat in the woods and picked and picked and picked and came home with quite a few of the iny little jewel colored berries- I was hooked- since then- only Huckleberries have been on my mind-- every time we are looking for wood- or checking bear baits- I am filling whatever container I have in teh car- with huckleberries!!
One Sunday Chet's family came up with us to pick and cut wood- it was a beautiful day- loved the company- and Kati and Porter had a wonderful time- having a picnic- with anything I could find in the truck- I had to snap some pictures (since they were dressed the same!) Too cute!
Yes that is Kati with a Mt. Dew- Sorry Candace- she really wanted it!
Hugs for his cousin! He loves Kati!

Oh and the Huckleberries- I made jam with my mom-- oooh soo delicious! And I picked some more last night for some huckleberry syrup this winter- and I plan on going on Saturday too- gotta get the last few berries before the bears and the snow gobble them up!
