Christmas - The Traditions and Christmas Day

I struggled this year -- I wanted my own traditions- I wanted something to pass to Porter- something he could tell his kids-- every year we did this (fill in the blank with something soo cool everyone was jealous) and it was the best ever!   I couldn't think up anything that fit the bill-- I couldn't think up anything at all -- nothing fit-- nothing fit us??  Everything felt like Square Peg in a round hole-- GEEz -- are we square??

I racked my brain -- nothing came to light-- My mom insisted that Traditions aren't necessarily planned- they just happen - so relax and let them happen-- I feared if i did that- that nothing would happen - ?

So I had a few things in the back of my head- and figured we'd see where the tides of Christmas took us!

Christmas Eve -- chet had to work - I hope that doesn't become a tradition-- Uhg!!  He was home early enough to hang out- and came with gifts!!
I decided for Christmas Eve Dinnner- wed' have all of our favorites from that year-- we had pasta-- (porter loves) Chet had chicken wings- (porter loves) and Egg nog-- yummy!! (they were out of my favorites- but that is ok-- I like pasta too!

Porter enjoying his Pasta Dinner!!
Chet enjoying pasta and wings- what a combination!!!

Hooray -- John and Kim -- had sent home gifts for  Chet, me and Porter-- ! Hooray -- since I had opted out of the usual Pajamas on Christmas Eve Tradition (only this year0- next year it will resume-- we just all had plenty of pajamas!!) This gave us something to open on Christmas Eve!
Any way -- Chet opened his present from John- it was lumps of Coal- hehehe -- apparently Chet was on the naughty list!!  There was also a nice knife in there-- apparently the tradition used to be-- you'd get lumps of coal and a knife to carve them with if you were naughty - that's pretty cool -knives are fun!!

Then men and Porter opened our present- actually just Porter did-- it was awesome-- it was a toy -- we needed a toy -- it was a Big Buck Hunter game- with 2 shot guns- hooray !!  We immediately busted in to the game - and played it- it was soo fun -- me and Chet rarely play games- because I'm not competitive- but I win alot- and Chet he is super competitive- and usually loses to me =-- which infuriates him!!  Hehehe
Trying to figure out how the whole unwrapping thing goes!

Tada-- got all the wrapping  paper off!!
Me and Porter killin us some stuff!!
We played until it was time to put Porter down -- I informed him to stay in his bed- so Santa would come-- (ya like he can get out of his crib-) He agreed and went to sleep!!

Me and Chet set out the stockings- and hoped for wonderful St. Nicolas to fill them up!!!

Christmas morning came -- and aside from the sickness plaguing me-- it was wonderful--
Porter waiting patiently for his breakfast!!
I put in my wonderful Christmas Breakfast (on my list of traditions I might like)  It was Baked French  Toast from here
Ooh it turned out lovely -- I just wish I wanted to eat any of it-- Porter and Chet loved it- I got lots of Num Nums - from Porter-- I picked at it-- but didn't eat much !!

Porter was a little overwhelmed with it all - and thought we should just play with the one toy at a time- and he really wanted teh video camera out of his face- (mom is the worst kind of poparatzy there is)!!
Me and Porter opening up the present from Great Grandma and Grandpa Thompson-- a big and some wonderful Gold Fish Crackers-- Vanilla Grahm flavor- it was a huge hit- see the mouthful of cookies!! (look even a smile from the walking dead girl!)
Santa brought wonderful storage items- he must have known my stockpile was getting low!!  (Shampoo conditionser, q-tips-- which porter loved and would have been happy with just that!)
Porter got a Jack in the Box0 and a pull behind car that holds shapes- he loved anything that makes noise- and those both make lots of noise!
I got a new purse from Porter and Chet and new snow pants-- ooh how I needed both of them badly!
Chet got a long range antenna for his GPS -- and lots of clothes- he was in dire need of some new clothes!!
The loot!!!
Lunch on the table-- Porter and Chet polished off the rest of the chicken wings- Porter loved them -- he ate 3 all by himself- !!

Yummy-- chicken wings are good (SErioulsy chicken wings are my least favorite food ever!)
After hanging out laying on the couch and trying not to die for many hours- we decided we'd be brave-- stop and get some gas and ASS blockers-- and head out to see if we could find some wild life- since it was the most gorgeous winter day -- no wind, no snow, just sun sun sun!!!
Porter in his new Christmas Clothes (Thanks Gramma and Grampa Thompson) Look how cute he is-- and this picture makes him look super old!!  He's ready to go on our expedition!!

And animals we did find!   (This was one of the things that was on my list of maybe could be a cool tradition)

Porter slept most of the time-- but I think next year -- he'll love it -- when he can use the binoculars- we did pull into some people's driveway -- so he could get a good look at some deer eating their lawn!!  He wasn't that impressed?

 Lots of does!
 Lots of does and fawns!
Hey ladies come back here- I want to talk to you!!
No-- we can be good friends- I have trail mix!!

OOh what a mangerie of wild life- Deer and Elk!! Wow!

One last doe and her fawn-- soo cute! I just love little critters!

So all in all -- I think at least 2 traditions -- might have been invented-- if not more-- we'll see!!
