Christmas - The Projects

Ok-- I had a big long post prepared- and decided it was too overwhelming- so much happened -- so much blog worthy stuff to post about-I hated for it to be lostin one big giant post-- Soo -- I will break it up a little for ya!

1st off-- Every year- I get this unrelenting desire to make something crafty -- and I'm not crafty!!!  But I always think- hey it can't be that hard-- Wrong wrong wrong-- I am always soo wrong!! Usually Jodi is my partner in crime-- and we almost always -- swear-- we will never do this again -- funny how 300 days later- we always seem to be doing some other crafty project- for a million people!!

So this year started early -- I wanted very badly to make a stick horse for Porter and for Ryan-- Ryan's birthday was right before Thanksgiving-- so it didn't get done- since I was snowed in for a week!!

I did get it done before Christmas- and Santa was kind enough to pick it up and put it on his sleigh!!

Here is a peek at the cute little stick horse-- unfortunately Porter's never did get finished- it will happen though!!!

The photos don't do the cute horsey justice- he is pretty cute horse -- if I don't say so myself-- I even rode him around the hose for a minute - just to make sure it worked!!

Then -- the big project-- we made 4 aprons-- yes aprons- they sound harmless- they are not -- these ones weren't any way !!!
I got the pattern from here  -- super cute huh!!

This is how mine turned out-- not to bad !! -- It was my first time using a pattern-- I know crazy!!-- and my first time using Biased Tape-- I hated it- I cursed it every day == I thought about changing the pattern-- I'm glad I didn't-- the finished look is amazing!!

However, -- Once I figured out the biased tape-- after unpicking the one apron 3 times-- ( and buying more tape) I was not about ready to tackle button holes -- I called my Grandma Purcell --

Grams -- I said--   You know how to do button holes right-- I knew she did- she sews amazingly well -- and always made pretty dresses for me -- with button holes -- !!

Yes -- she said - Well Grams-- I need some help-- can you do some button holes for me ??-- I know my machine will do them- but at this point-- I think my brain is incapable of learning something new- and I don't want to unpick another piece ever again --

Ultimately -- she agreed to help me-- I knew she would-- she's my Gramma-- its her job!!!

Jodi took them to Grams to put button holes while Jodi ironed and tied the ties on -- wow they look good- too bad me and JOdi don't have one- another day -- another day --hopefully soon - before I forget how to do them-- !!

In the end- the last apron I did-- took 2 1/2 hours of sewing-- (it was already all cut out and  mostly pinned) that is alot  of sewing- but still worth it!! and all my sewing projects come with a disclaimer- if you inspect closely and/or criticize my sewing- I take it back!!  :)

Kara and Terresa-- such cute models!!!
The Apron Gang!!- I think they loved them- I hope they do !!!

Ok, must say...Beckie did ALL the work. I only took the aprons to Grandmas and ironed them. I tied the ties on too...oh so hard! I think they turned out awesome though and am jealous of those who have them! :)
