So a week ago-- was my cousins welcome home-- it was a gorgeous Sunday and my cousin from Michigan was there- so we decided to camp our butts out on the lawn and chat-- we were out there for a little over an hour-- and I could tell I was gonna be a little sunburnt on my legs- but as the rest of the day and evening went on-- ooh my!!
I woke up Monday and put my feet on the ground- and immdiately my thought was oh my gosh -- I've gone blind -- the pain has blinded me -- someone shoot me. I shuffled-- literally -- to let the dog out-- and then dry heaved for a minute (yes it hurt that bad!) I quickly laid back in bed to access the situation -- what to do? Do you call in sick for a sunburn-- EEK?? But can I walk-- can I deal with the pain? Who knew?
So I got up and got ready for work- no I didn't take a shower-- uh -- can we say no to pouring acid down my legs!! (which is what I knew it would feel like).
I shuffled into work and cringed every time I'd have to stand up-- the skin would have to stretch and the blood flow would have to return -- and that meant pain-- gut wrenching pain!!
That night I went home completely lathered in aloe vera (which I'd applied liberally all day long) But still the burn continued- what to do? I laid on the couch -- and wrapped cold wet towels on my legs-- ooh that felt good -- (hurts soo good!)
By the next day -- I could tell I'd made a huge mistake- -I under estimated my paleness when I was sitting out in the sun -- and in return-- I now had to deal with the unbearable red lobster legs! I (being the bad employee) made a leg rest out of my garbage can and a box lid-- my mom -- being wonderful as usual-- made me an ice pack-- so I could rest my legs (that were now beginnig to swell) and ice them down -- trying to stop the burning!!
Now since I've been pregnant-- I've been ooh soo terrified of turning into the women with elephantitis-- I figured that my feet would swell some in the summer- but it wasn't even summer yet and I was huge-- my flip flops (when I'd wear them) would leave huge dents in my puffy puffy feet! The waddle was awful-- people would stare and wonder just how pregnant is this chick? She's walking like she's 11 months along-- but she doesn't look that big?
Wednesday -- no change-- even worse-- the poor little toes were now starting to look like -- oh like State Puff Marshmallow Man-- that's what I referred to myself as -- State Puff Marshmallow Man!
The picture does not do it justice-- but just imagine-- not being able to see ankle bones-- or feet bones -- or anything and the red is not showing up as good as it should-- but think Lobster!!

Oh and did I mention that I was only burned on one half of my legs and it was a definite white line!

Wowzer! Just looking at it hurts!
I tried all sorts of home remedies-- I rubbed yogurt all over them (which actually worked pretty good) it took the burn down alot--
I sat in a cool (felt cold) bath filled with baking soda-- let me tell you -- I was supposed to stay in 30 minutes after 20 I was shivering soo badly -- I got out! BRR!
More yogurt- more alovera- more ice-- More elevated feet! Most of the week-- I really did nothing-- went to work-- feet up-- home feet up-- night time feet up! I was a real bore!!
But Friday finally i could start to see ankle bones again-- hooray -- Friday night- however-- awhole new world of uncomfortablness started-- the itching-- oh my gosh!! Seriously I want to scratch my legs off-- I try not to- -because of the -oh soo painful reaction to my fingernails!
My legs have now turned a lovely shade of purple-- yes purple and have begun to peel-- hooray peeling is healing right!!
This is a picture from last night- much better I think!

ok the color is still awful- -but look I have kind of an anle bone again-- I'm not the elephantitis women!! H ooray
Soo Poor Judgment - maybe a little-- but seriously freak accident-- its not like my legs had never seen the sun before-- prior to getting pregnant-- i was a tanning queen !!
Ohw ell-- I'm sure the peeling will nice and delightful!! I'll keep you updated!

WOW I'm surprised. You have ALWAYS been so dark and you are RED girl! Ouch good luck with that one :0/
Oh Sad! Good luck with that. That happened to a girl I work with. It took a couple weeks to go away :(
So, I think its a hormonal thing. You should probably stay away from the sun with those legs for the rest of the summer. Sunscreen for you, baby!
P.S. Blaine has some stuff for you and I've got a really good sunscreen with zinc oxide in it. Excellent for preventing burns.
