Well I honestly didn't believe it could get any worse or better or whatever!! This morning at a beautiful time of 5:15 a.m. I went out to start the car for Chet -- yes I know I'm a good wife right!!-- and feed the horses-- and cows-- already dressed might as well just finish it!! The wind is blowing a million miles an hour- seriously I waiting for cars and houses to fly by!! Its cold as all get out! BRR-- I hate the cold! I start the car-- and take off to quickly throw some hay to the cows and horses-- I can usually -- especially when its cold-- get this job done in about ooh 10 minutes and I'm back in the house!! Well this morning took way longer!! I hadn't made it 3 steps past the car when I saw 2 huge mice run past-- well not run-- they were kind of scurrying! I sicked Annie on them -- and she loves to catch mice! I went to feed the cows-- and remembering the events of yesterday-- (read above Open Season) -- I just grabbed a small piece of hay to throw in - to analyze the situation -- see what was living in there-- oh my gosh-- good thing I did-- I grabbed the small piece and before I could even pick it up -- there was mice pouring out of it-- now pouring might be an exageration -- but there were at least 4 mice sitting there-- I quickly called Annie-- and with my trusty head lamp-- Annie snatched one or two of them up-- the rest ran behind the bale! So I grab another piece of the bale -- cows need more than a snack-- and what runs out more freaking mice-- there were another 3 or 4 in that piece! So I kind of took a step back to assess the situation properly -- looking around was a bad idea- mice were coming in from the field-- everywhere-- seriously it was like a bad dream-- something out of Indiana Jones! I couldn't direct Annie fast enough and I was kind of scared to stomp them -- and fall on the ice -- and risk them eating my face off!! I know real fear right!! -- So I grab some more hay off-- still more mice-- seriously -- this morning is sucking!! -- So Annie grabs one way back in on the bale-- and the other mouse in that section -- stands up -- and I swear it barked at me-- it barred its nasty little teeth and made some weird mouse grunt-- sounded like a bark! Freaky little nasty thing! I promplty tried to stomp it with my boot -- all I managed to do was stuff it farther into the bale of hay I was trying to use!
I finally gave up on the cows-- figuring they won't starve until Chet gets home and its day time and we can actually see what creatures are gonna get us-!!-- Now on to the horses-- I hadn't made it 10 steps past the mouse attack-- when I smelled it-- You have got to be kidding me -- (I said that out loud-- and I might have added some colorful language-- just for effect!) A skunk -- no way -- aren't they still sleeping! Hybernating -- whatever they do in the winter-- So I sneek up the barn door-- not wanting to open it and get sprayed in the face-- but needing to get out of the wind before my face froze off! -- So I quietly -- not to piss anything off-- walkedup -- unlatched the door and looked in with my head lamp-- no eyes came glaring back at me-- Ooh good- must not be in here! I flipped the switch grabbed some mouse free hay -- I guess mice don't like horses? Tossed the horses their food and ran back to the house-- to report my bad morning to Chet! Yucky Yucky Yucky!

Gross! I'm glad I don't live there anymore..we'd be moving out! Make Chet feed the animals from now on. We'll have to take Clifton out this weekend and shoot some mice.
Wow that was very entertaining. I am Barbara Higgs's sister. Holly Reed was telling Harmony about your blog about mice, and I just had to read it. I hate them! You make me laugh!
