Lights Out!

Well last night I had it all planned out-- Plasma - - then dinner at Jodi and Blaine's (Thanks Blaine!) then home by 8:00 to watch Grey's Anatomy-- I'm not ashamed to say I've become addicted to the drama on that show! So I run out of Jodi's house with just enough time to get home and watch Grey's Anatomy-- I run in the house-- sit down-- turn on the TV-- Channel 8 -- alright -- Grey's Anatomy -- then Black-- the power goes out! Oh no -- I wait a few minutes hoping that it would flicker back on and I wouldn't have missed anything important, but no! Well I don't like the dark, I don't like being alone in the dark, and mostly I just don't like the dark! So start lighting candles and my kerosene lantern -- and try to stay busy, thinking it will come back on in a few minutes. So I was doing dishes in the dark-- finally I call Chet -- he's at work and can't help! So I call my dad -- He says he'll be right over! While I'm waiting for him to get there, I drive around the street, I'm the only one without lights-- everyone else is at home in their lighted homes, watching Grey's Anatomy -- GRR!! Well my Dad and Brent show up ! They look around the house, look at the transformer on the pole, and can't see that its anything wrong with the house, so my Dad Calls Rocky Mountain Power-- they say they'll send someone out! Me and my dad waited and waited, we finally were going outside to turn off the horse waterer, so we didn't run the pressure tank dry waiting for power, and we see the power guy in his bucket truck turn the corner- hooray! Then he drove past us! Uh, ok, we thought maybe he'd turn around and be right back so we went out to the street and stood there in the cold and wind and nasty (it was like a hurricane!) Till finally we'd had enough of that-- we went and got in the pickup -- and drove into the field to wait for the bucket truck to come back! But he never did! Finally tired of waiting we drove down the road he'd gone down -- About 1 mile down the road is a Feed Lot! The Bucket Truck was stopped in the middle of the road in front of the feed lot -- He'd missed the house -- and now his truck was broke, and he was blocking the entrance to the feed lot and a semi wanted out! We hooked on and drug him a ways down the road -- just enough so the semi could get out ! Then we stood outside in the hurricane and chatted with him till his replacement truck showed up! Soon the bucket truck was back to my house-- changed the fuse on the big pole-- and whalla! Power!

I'd missed Grey's Anatomy-- but that's ok! My Dad came to my rescue! Thanks Dad for always being there to save me! and Thanks Brent for coming out in the cold windy night to see why I was in the dark! I really do have the best family ever!

yikes!! at least it was only a fuse on the pole and not something crazy and unfixable. aren't dads and brothers the best when they come to your rescue? you definitely need tivo so you don't miss all the good shows.

That really was like a hurricane! Our trampoline ended up across the field in the shape of a pretzel! We even had it staked down but the chain broke. My kids are devastated, to say the least. Anyway, hooray for our daddies that always come to the rescue! :)
