Porter is a deep thinker-- and he has a memory on him that lasts forever-- if you do something once- you better do it that way always- and if you tell him something once-- you better remember it and say it the same-- always -- or suffer the wrath--!!
So now that Porter is a Sunbeam (oh that hurts to say! slow down don't grow up so fast!) -- I like to ask him what he learned about in his class- and he usually can tell me a story of what they learned --
I am sure his teacher (Sister Nef) thinks that she has a pack of wild animals to teach and they don't get a thing from all her hard work- but she is wrong (if she thinks that!) -- Porter remembers it all-- and can repeat it days later --
On Sunday -- the lesson was going to be on the Holy Ghost-- so Sister Nef called each parent and asked that the send something with their child that comforts them -- that was a no brainer for me-- Porter's Sippy Cup with Milk (and recently one with water too - he likes to have one for each hand!) -- Without the Sippy Cup- the world is often doomed-- there have been more than one melt down - going some where when we've forgotten the sippy cup!!!
So I sent Porter to Primary with his sippies-- and once I convinced him to stay (which consisted of me walking off while he bawled!) - - he then enjoyed his class --
On the way home we were driving- he asked me-- "Mom do you want to hear my voice" -- I said yes-- thinking he would sing me a song - or do some noise--
He then insisted that Chet slow down so I could hear his voice-- Chet did slow down-- but apparently not enough- Porter kept insisting that Chet slow down - so he could hear his voice--
When we came to our turn and stopped completely -- Porter was happy--
He covered his ears and closed his eyes--
Stayed that way for 5 seconds or so - -
The opened his eyes- and asked me- did you hear it?
I said yes- so he wouldn't freak out--
He said that is my second voice-- you have to be quiet and slow down to hear it-- It is inside you.
It was soo touching to hear him repeat something so true - - and I wanted to call his teacher right then and thank her for the wonderful lesson-- he remembered it and he got it --
He then asked me and Chet if we have a voice inside of us-- we both agreed we did-- ! --
I love to be taught by my 3 yr old -- something about his pureness - just makes me feel the truth of it!
