I'm afraid of alot of things-- alooot! I can admit it -- I think I have an over enthusiastic sense of imagination and because of that-- the things that are in my head -- are sometimes unspeakable!! But then there are some real -- genuine -- actually could and might happen to me fears!!! This morning I came face to face (almost) with one of these - - - Brace yourself-- this is a scary tale!!
This morning me and Chet popped out of bed (way to early for most humans) as usual! Chet had to have him and Porter to Jodi's by around 7:30 -- so I had planned to go swim at the pool -but instead - being the loving wife I am -- stayed to help get Chet and Porter out the door!!
I told Chet' I'd go outside and feed animals while he showered and started a fire -- (ooh don't we sound rustic and old western like! { its not as cool as it sounds} Any way -- I put on my sweatshirt and my coat and my boots and trudged outside -- with my hood on and my head lamp blaring-- I staggered into the dark dark snowy morning (it was still black outside) It was snowing hard and between the fact that I didn't have my contacts in -- and the snow and the dark -- even with my head lamp the world was blurry (kind of like the girl on Adventures in baby sitting that wanted to hold the RAT).
I made it about 50 yards from the house -- and caught something in my sinuses -- that was soo unusual for the frigid January morning- SKUNK --
Seriously -- I thought to myself-- it is freezing -- what is a skunk doing up??
I slowed my pace to a saunter --trying to make out eyes in my head lamp-
Suddenly -- from Leroy's house - came a small black creature - running at me --
I took a few steps back - and nearly peed myself -- and grabbed the strings on my hood to tie it completely shut!
Whew -- false alarm -- it was only Guiness (black puppy)
I was going to walk intot he barn to turn on the lights- but I thought for sure the Skunk would be hiding around the corner to spray me as I walked in!
The smell was getting stronger- SKUNK was near -- he was stalking me!
I walked down towards the horses -- now more afraid -- I'd find the skunk waiting on the bail of hay -- I needed to cut open and feed from !
But he wasn't -- luckily -- just the old Goat!
I looked at the horses water-- I didn't want to fill it- I wanted to throw them some hay and run into the house and go back to bed!
I couldn't leave it soo low though-- I got the hose- and as I lurked toward the water faucet- I thought for sure I'd come face to face with Mr. Stinky!! He'd spray me and it would be all over for me!! I'd have to bathe in tomato juice- I hate tomatoes - hate them!!
But nope - he wasn't there!
then Squeek started to Bay --she had the Skunk bayed up-- she had him -- She squalled and squalled-- I was sure Skunk would now run towards me to avoid being eaten by Squeek - I watched and thought about hiding in the chicken coup-- nothing appeared -- I'll hurry -water the chickens -- roll up the hose- and be gone-- Sorry Doggies- you''ll have to fend for yourself- I'm not walking that close to where I'm sure Skunk is hiding!
I ran into the house-- and told Chet of my scary story -- he laughed- apparently he didn't think it was soo scary -- I was terrified-- i couldn't see -- only smell -- and there was a skunk- it could have been the end of me-- !! I'm lucky to be here today writing this post- only smelling slightly of deodorant and body spray -- !!!
I was spared -- !!
